Best Bars in the Cayman Islands

By Grant Ceville

When you are planning your vacation if you want to be sure to have a wonderful trip, you should do a little research so that you have a few places in mind to visit. A little time spent searching for the right bars before you leave will help you avoid the tourist traps that often overrun popular tourist destinations. If your next vacation is to the Cayman Islands, here are a few bars that we think offer a great vibe and will help you make the most of your trip.

If you are someone who likes to visit the trendiest bar in town then The Bar at Karma is the perfect choice for your night time mingling in the Cayman Islands. This popular bar offers modern Asian inspired dcor with small touches of art deco style. The bar offers both water and fire features that bring an edgy modern look to this stylish lounge. The white couches offer a great place to chill with friends and on the weekends a DJ livens up the place. The beverage list features high end martinis, mixed drinks, and an impressive list of sake.

For those travelers seeking a more relaxed and authentic beach bar experience, head to the Bar at Driftwood. This local favorite will give you a true look at life on a Caribbean Island. The Chill atmosphere of this North Side bar offers a wide variety of drink options and a light menu that includes grilled fish, pizza, and Bar BQ. While you will not find trendy drink menus and slick dressers at this neighborhood bar, you will find service with a smile. The staff is friendly, the bar tenders are chatty, and if you choose this place for a drink and a snack you will probably end up hearing a story or two from the locals who are happy to share tales about their little island paradise.

On vacation sometimes you are looking for a place that is a little more upscale than a beach bar but not as busy as a trendy night club, if this sounds like you then try visiting The Bar at Lobster Pot. The lobster pot is an island staple that has been around longer than almost any other restaurant on the islands. After enjoying a wonderful dinner downstairs, head upstairs to take in the beautiful ocean views and enjoy a bottle of good wine or a cocktail. If you like to try new things the manager, Gunter, suggest trying a bottle of the Austrian wine that the bar imports directly from the winery. If you are dissatisfied and the Austrian wine is not to your liking he will be more than happy to exchange it for one of the many other well known bottles they have in stock.

If you just can not stay away from the souvenir shops and tourist paradise bar environment, we recommend stopping by Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. While this bar is truly one for the tourists they do offer plenty of activities and great drinks for those seeking an active vacation bar.
