Taking A Tour Of Turkey

By Mark Walters

Turkey combines ancient history with spectacular geography to create a wonderful destination for tourists. Additionally, its position as an origin of many civilizations attracts travelers from everywhere on Earth. Locations such as long extinct cities and breathtaking mosques are just some of the interesting locales within Turkey's borders. Those who are thinking about a Turkish holiday might be curious as to what are Turkey's best tourist attractions.

The Hagia Sophia is mentioned time and again by those making an itinerary to follow while in Turkey. One of the largest basilicas in the Christian world, it was constructed in the 6th Century by Emperor Justinian to be the largest monument to God on Earth, and this wonder of Byzantine architecture was just that for thousands of years. In 1609, Sultan Ahmet I decided to answer the Hagia Sophia with his own Blue Mosque located in Istanbul. The huge dome perched atop the Blue Mosque was meant to rival the Hagia Sophia's size, and the sultan certainly succeeded.

While traveling in Turkey, a trip must be made to The Maiden's Tower. Built in 408 B.C. under the direction of General Alcibiades of Greece, its purpose was to track Persian ships traversing the Bosphorous Strait. As time passed, it became a Byzantine fortress. The Maiden's Tower now plays home to a restaurant and caf that provide fine dining of the best kind in Turkey. Also interesting is Miniaturk, and as the name implies, it is a miniature version of certain locations to scale. The idea behind it was to increase awareness of Turkey's history in both tourists and citizens.

The city of Ephesus truly brings the past of Turkey alive with roots that date to the long ago times of 6000 B.C. Originally a fishing village, Mycenaean Greeks made their way to town and settled there, and the pottery left behind in the ancient burial mounds are exquisite artifacts of a time long ago. Gallipoli may not be as ancient, but it is no less historically significant. During World War I, the area was the staging ground for the battle that attempted to wrest the Dardanelles away from the Turkish Ottoman Empire in order to remove it from the war. Many monuments and commemorations exist there today.

All of the historic significance cannot overshadow the miles and miles of Turkish coastline that await visitors along the Mediterranean Sea. There are ample opportunities in which to sunbathe, swim, and find the occasional wave to surf. Turkey is a country of many faces, making it quite popular with those on holiday.

Safeguard Your Home And Loved Ones By Using Personal Alarms

By Gryan B Gruckner

I am a widow left with four children to care for. I have been very concerned about my family's safety ever since my husband passed away. Good thing I chose to arm our home with personal security alarms.

I spotted different personal security alarms with excellent travel and home applications through the internet.

I ordered the Mini Travel Alarm with PIR Sensor for personal use. It sounds a 100 dB alarm for 15 seconds. It is perfect for traveling, built with a motion sensor that I can set and can detect movement up to 9 feet away. It comes with an LED flashlight.

Kate and Jenna, my daughters, can clip the Mini Personal Alarm onto their belts to safeguard them on their way home from ballet lessons each week. It can also be placed inside their pockets. It sounds a 101 dB alarm when activated with just a click of the button on the unit.

I ordered the PAL - 130L Keychain Alarm for my boys, John and Ken, built with a 130 dB alarm equipped with a flashing light. You just pull the pin secured to the keychain or click the button on top of the device to activate it.

I purchased the 2 in 1 Doorknob Safety Alarm for our back door, hung it on the doorknob, which made the doorknob into a shock-sensitive burglar alarm. It emits a 120 dB alert when an intruder touches it.

These personal security alarms gave me peace of mind. For the front window at home, the PAL - 1 130 dB Safety Alarm is as loud as eight 100 dB alarms. It is activated when the strap attached to the alarm pin is pulled.

I am glad I bought these personal security alarms on the internet, making my home and family safe 24/7.

Free Plywood Boat Plans - Get One Today

By Martin Reid

Boating has become popular enough that you can now get free plywood boat plans off of the Internet with a minimum of searching. With boating accessories also available anywhere it makes it extremely easy to get whatever you need when it comes to boating. Even local stores exist for boating accessories anywhere there is any body of water.

You can make your own boat at home with the help of the wide variety of plans available on the Internet. There are several different plans to follow to make your masterpiece. However, you need to keep several things in mind before you do so. You need to plan the process, choose what materials you will be using, and always keep safety in mind. After all what good is the boat you are building if you can?t use it. For this article, we will focus on a simple plywood boat.

In the preparation of the building of the boat you need to plan the frame for the hull of the boat. Make sure you have the right tools available to use in construction. Always use a good quality wood, and gather any type of fasteners you might need. Of course you can?t work on this without good tools also.

You will need some of the basics, such as a hammer, saw, drills, and screwdrivers. You might want to make sure you have everything you need with regards to tools and materials before you start your project.

When starting the building of your boat you need to decide upon the length of every piece of wood as you cut them. Make sure you cut to the needed measurements. It is important you try not to waste anything so you need to plan on how to use every single piece of wood carefully.

While building the boat it is important to make sure that everything fits as needed. Measuring each piece to the exact measurements needed and cutting carefully will go a long way to ensure they fit where needed. Putting it all together from one or more pieces of plywood will require some jigs and clamps but will fit together nicely when your project is completed.

Although it is not the most beautiful boat in the world it will still be a masterpiece in your own mind. You spent the time to put it together and the fact that it is actually useable will make the work worthwhile. All of your exact measurements will be proven when you put it in the water, and it floats. Your work on sealing all joints and making sure it is waterproof will be tested also.

Although not hard to make and not as fanciful as other boats you can make something nice and simple that would work for simply getting across the lake or just to fish in once or twice without having to worry about the work involved in a different type of boat. So enjoy your handiwork and have fun with the process.

Bright Lights and Green City - Las Vegas

By Michael Crane

Is Las Vegas the very first vacation spot you think of if you consider checking out a dazzling and vibrant city? If that's so, make plans to travel there in a few weeks. Las Vegas streets will go green in the next few days, when the city gets a whole new range of LED streetlights. They are cheaper, brighter and also whiter in comparison to those it presently uses. With over 6,000 new streetlights, Las Vegas is certain to shine bright during the night. In the next few days, crews will start working on replacing the old orange and yellow lights with the newest ones. This is the initial stage of the installation, and will save up to $400,000.

Going green by lessening use of electricity

The assistant traffic manager of Las Vegas said that this is the amount of money the city will save when it replaces 6,600 bulbs. It will get multiplied when the remaining 50,000 streetlights are replaced. As outlined by a 8newsnow.com report, the predicted expense with the new bulbs, for each year, is considerably less in comparison to the $4 million the city was spending in the same period, on streetlights. The yearly electrical energy consumption in the city is bound to plummet by 8 million kilowatt hours with this adjustment.

Project funding

Sections near Durango Drive and Charleston Boulevard, in Ward 2, are going to go through the first change wave. The next few phases of installing the new bulbs will begin once the city receives funding for it. The task is being financed largely by federal energy conservation bonds worth $2.9 million. $40,000 is being covered by the federal stimulus grant from the state of Nevada. Locals are excited about the reality that their streets are going to get new lights. Joggers, who run during the early hours of morning when it is still dark, are over joyed about the new enhancements. While the traditional streetlights last for approximately six years, the new LED lights have a life span of 15 years.

Places to visit in Las Vegas

When you visit Las Vegas, there are many destinations that you'll want to visit. M&M's World is a paradise for chocolate lovers and M&M addicts. Ski Hydrated The Economical Way

By Bruce Wiley

So you plan to go skiing without too much expense, but how to keep you hydrated is the problem. I'll give you some tips.

Take Water with You

Skiing downhill for a long stretch of time will cause you to perspire profusely and lose about a quart of body fluid in an hour's time. What you can do is preempt your thirst by drinking all the water you can throughout the day.

The best way is to carry at least two quarts of water with you. Nothing can beat water in replenishing our lost body fluid because our body is 70% water. Sodas and juices will not do because they will quench your thirst only temporarily and will even make you thirstier after a short while.

How best to bring two quarts of water?

You should have a backpack.

Get two one-quart plastic containers that you can put into your back pack along with your other things and supplies. The plastic bottles should be last in the back pack so you can get it easily every time you stop for a drink. The weight of the back pack can be a problem or removing your back pack several times in an hour can be inconvenient, so you might consider getting a camel pack as an option.

Get a Camel Pack

A camel pack is actually a vest that fits around your chest and is zipped or clipped in the front. The pack contains a reservoir that holds between one and three quarts of water or energy drink, as well as a tube that transports the fluid from the reservoir to your mouth on demand. If you tuck the end of the tube inside your ski jacket you should be able to keep it from freezing up on most winter days, but some hydration packs come equipped with a system that prevents the delivery tube from freezing up. With a backpack or camel pack, you need not buy expensive liquids in your skiing trip, so you will recover whatever is the cost of your hydration gear soon enough. Backpacks and camel packs are those kinds of things that are useful in many ways, be it in sports or other activities or occasions.

Fundamental Suggestions For Purchasing Outboard Boat Motors

By James Bennett

Purchasing used outboard boat motors could be a wise investment for the watercraft enthusiast using a tight budget. Nevertheless, you can find several crucial points to ponder to be positive that any unit is in fact a bargain. It constantly is essential to select the correct kind, high quality and size.

Initial of all, when obtaining used equipment, precisely figure out all needed requirements that are necessary for a motor to efficiently do the job. Considerations like fuel efficiency, maintenance expenses and horsepower are normally a number of the fundamental problems involved in picking the best motor.

Normally, newer models of boats will have specification plates, detailed manuals or permanent markings. These will specify the weight limits, recommended physical dimensions and maximum power ratings that are suitable for the individual vessel. It's vital to constantly take all restrictions into cautious consideration.

It really is constantly enormously crucial to never surpass any manufacturer's recommendations. Adding on too much power, size or weight could have significant consequences either right away or within the long-run. Going beyond recommendations may well have an effect on performance efficiency, mechanical lifespan and overall safety.

In many cases, it may be desirable to remain properly below the maximum ratings, depending on intended purposes. For example, if the boat is not intended to be applied for skiing, tubing or pulling nets, the smaller motor could be a wise option for greater fuel economy. Also, obtain expenses, maintenance and repair expenditures could be substantially lower.

Finally, be certain that the device runs smoothly, appears to be properly maintained and has no visible damage. It really is also an excellent idea to be sure of the availability of replacement parts. If the motor is an odd model, it could be utterly useless inside the future when it cannot be repaired. Used motors can be a fantastic deal, but only when they serve their purpose, are adequately reliable and efficient.

Active Adults Laugh Often And Enjoy Life

By Pamela Baldwin

The story of the Olympic athlete who tried and failed to keep abreast of a toddler as it crawled, rolled and toddled about a room is well known. It illustrates how important activity is in the formative years. Stamina, strength and muscle development are developed naturally in the course of play activity. Active adults who enjoy their exercise are often harking back to this halcyon days of their life when movement came with the ease of water flowing.

Habits acquired in childhood tend to persist in one way or another throughout life. When society was predominantly rural rather than urban, before the advent of television, children played outside and were often required to complete chores. They were naturally active and activity left its stamp on their ways of life. With the advent of TV and urban lifestyles, activity became less integrated into the pattern of life.

Games are important for children because skills that are learned can stand a person in good stead for much of a lifetime. For example a game like tennis may be enjoyed from childhood until and advanced age and actually form an important element in a lifespan. For those who have not enjoyed an education in games it is important to cultivate some skills and pleasures in adulthood.

Exercise is actually a drug. Endorphins released into the bloodstream are habit forming and seasoned athletes do have withdrawal symptoms if unable to complete their daily dose. Like other drugs exercise can be beneficial or detrimental. Sports injuries and even heart attacks can occur, especially if it is overdone, and if an individual has previously lived a sedentary lifestyle.

There is no doubt that the many beneficial effects of exercise outweigh any ill effects. Exercise counteracts the dangerous consequences of sedentary lifestyles, in respect of heart ailments, blood pressure and blood sugar levels. For diabetics an hour or two of simply walking can bring blood sugar levels down from dangerously high levels to normal.

An active life does not depend on physical exercise. In many retirement communities a range of activities are available. Some may engage in bridge, others in playing chess, singing or instrumental music. Art classes are often popular and highly successful Retirement communities can allow friendships to form that were perhaps not possible in previous eras when older people stayed with their families and were confined to a narrow circle of known friends.

Aging populations are a feature of the twenty-first century. This may be due to improved health care systems but if life drags on for depressed and vegetating people there is no great advantage in living to a hundred years. However, active adults tend to be merry, useful and healthy. Living in communities with others of similar age and interests they may enjoy decades of zestful and useful living.

Diwali 2011 - Only 100 More Days

By Anukriti Parsai

I was sufficiently fortunate to travel India a bunch of years ago with my colleague. Although the time for Diwali had long since passed, the hospitality was overpowering and the memories are still fresh and familiar. I only wish I may have had my family with me as they might have enjoyed it similarly, no doubt.

Since my return I have been fortunate to work and socialise with many folks from India and have experienced the same warmth and hospitality here in Australia.

For a few people this will sound standard however it needs a real effort to maintain such cultural pleasantries.

I should know. I'm an Australian born Muslim descendant from Iraqi folks, married to an Australian convert of British stock, living in one of the most multicultural suburbs in Sydney...

My nave assessment is that the energy and effort comes from a craving to give more than you receive. And so it is with the upcoming festival of Deepavali or Diwali.

The festival of Diwali 2011 occurs 26 October through Nov. It's a time for giving and with a little bit of luck receiving. Lately I have heard about amazing opulence including the gifting of vehicles and often houses. When thinking about such opulence I wonder if many have considered the western idea of Kris Kringle...

The better part for my family and I are the open celebrations across urban Sydney and obviously the food.

Many years previously my spouse and I were kindly invited to an Indian wedding here in Sydney which spanned four (4) (4) days. We attended only two of those days but I continue to recall the "grandness" of the event. Wondrous artists decorated my wife's hand with Henna immediately upon arrival and waiters availed me with copious rounds of culinary treats - almost all of which I have never experienced since.

The Sari's, the music, the smells and experience where noteworthy. Such things are doubtless 'old-hat ' for the initiated however for me they where infrequent.

During my trip to India I received another kind invite to a marriage at a "Marriage Palace". It's a 3-day event and I attended all 3 beginning with the merriment at the bride's house. I was captivated by the boundaries of the event as it seemed as though the entire town had been in attendance. On the third and final day I was similarly mesmerized by the size and variety of the food and entertainment.

On both of these occasions as well as during my trip I enjoyed a novel atmosphere stuffed with the best of tidings. And so it has been with Diwali in the past. Therefore why my wife, kids and I are all much looking forward to Deepavali 2011.

The Overland Track

By Cristopher Krandall

The Overland Track runs for 65 kilometers from Cradle Mountain through the Tasmanian wilderness world heritage area to Lake St. Claire. Hiking the Overland track is quite spectacular with a variety of different areas ranging from rainforest to moors with mountains, lakes and waterfalls to see. The Overland track is classed as a moderate walk and there are numerous side trips that can be done. On these side trips you can either leave your pack at the huts if the side trip is nearby or leave the packs on some of the timber platforms that have been specially built and do the side-trips with just a day pack These side-trips provide some spectacular scenery and it is highly recommended that you plan to do as many as possible. Hiking the Overland Track takes four days but another four days can easily be used up on the side-trips. As the track is growing more popular every year a booking and fee system is in place. During the summer months the Overland track must be walked from north to south.

There is always a good timing for everything. For the Overland Track, the best time to trek is from December to March. Nevertheless, you are to prepare yourself just in case you might be facing adverse weather conditions. These could be rain, fog, subzero temperature during the night as well as the dreaded snowstorm. Even though the trails are carefully supervised by park rangers and there are proper signposts as well camping huts to shelter you, it is wise to mentally prepare yourself just in case you got lost or injured and need to spend the night out in the open.

The Overland Track has gained much reputation over the recent years and has welcomed many hikers and moderate walkers in general. It is considered to be one of the world's best walks too. If you are a big fan of outdoor activities then a visit to Tasmania is unquestionably an additional thrill. Many have considered it to be a paradise on earth and it is because of the superbly diversified flora and fauna that can be found there. Tasmania has 16 national parks altogether with each differing a little from the other. 2 of the national parks are more popular than the rest. They are Franklin-Gordon National Park and Cradle Mountain National park. There four other national parks, though, that are worth a visit and this article will sketchily cover on them.

Between the two most visited national parks, Cradle Mountain is probably the most popular. Lake St. Clair and Dove Lake which are also well known tourist spots are situated here. Best Bars in the Cayman Islands

By Grant Ceville

When you are planning your vacation if you want to be sure to have a wonderful trip, you should do a little research so that you have a few places in mind to visit. A little time spent searching for the right bars before you leave will help you avoid the tourist traps that often overrun popular tourist destinations. If your next vacation is to the Cayman Islands, here are a few bars that we think offer a great vibe and will help you make the most of your trip.

If you are someone who likes to visit the trendiest bar in town then The Bar at Karma is the perfect choice for your night time mingling in the Cayman Islands. This popular bar offers modern Asian inspired dcor with small touches of art deco style. The bar offers both water and fire features that bring an edgy modern look to this stylish lounge. The white couches offer a great place to chill with friends and on the weekends a DJ livens up the place. The beverage list features high end martinis, mixed drinks, and an impressive list of sake.

For those travelers seeking a more relaxed and authentic beach bar experience, head to the Bar at Driftwood. This local favorite will give you a true look at life on a Caribbean Island. The Chill atmosphere of this North Side bar offers a wide variety of drink options and a light menu that includes grilled fish, pizza, and Bar BQ. While you will not find trendy drink menus and slick dressers at this neighborhood bar, you will find service with a smile. The staff is friendly, the bar tenders are chatty, and if you choose this place for a drink and a snack you will probably end up hearing a story or two from the locals who are happy to share tales about their little island paradise.

On vacation sometimes you are looking for a place that is a little more upscale than a beach bar but not as busy as a trendy night club, if this sounds like you then try visiting The Bar at Lobster Pot. The lobster pot is an island staple that has been around longer than almost any other restaurant on the islands. After enjoying a wonderful dinner downstairs, head upstairs to take in the beautiful ocean views and enjoy a bottle of good wine or a cocktail. If you like to try new things the manager, Gunter, suggest trying a bottle of the Austrian wine that the bar imports directly from the winery. If you are dissatisfied and the Austrian wine is not to your liking he will be more than happy to exchange it for one of the many other well known bottles they have in stock.

If you just can not stay away from the souvenir shops and tourist paradise bar environment, we recommend stopping by Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. While this bar is truly one for the tourists they do offer plenty of activities and great drinks for those seeking an active vacation bar.

Engaging Points On Why You Ought To Make A Particular Effort In Order To Find Those Island Getaways

By Nick Morgan

Somewhere between the picture that you've got in mind of Tom Hanks in the motion picture Castaway and an image of an all-inclusive beach resort in the Caribbean is the quintessential fantasy. You know, when you are seated at the cubicle trying to close out the sound of the office gossip, while looking forward to your forthcoming summer getaway? You definitely need to get far away from everything, don't wish to be in the middle of way too many other individuals, but would like to enjoy your very own little rendition of paradise.

Lots of people imagine island getaways, particularly in the peak of the most unforgiving and lengthy winter months. There are lots of distant, beautiful and frequently untainted locations all over the world waiting for you if you need to put theory into practice. In fact, it is quite possible for you to think about private island rentals where you could be that tiny bit more like Tom Hanks, if you ever wish.

Where are the top rated island getaways on the planet nowadays? What about the Indian Ocean isle of Mauritius? It is a long trip maybe yet one of the more heavenly places on the planet. What about one of the numerous islands that comprise the Philippines archipelago? There's a private island there known as Pamalican, with just a few dozen personal casitas, either perched on the hillside or right on the seashore.

In the event you really need to observe your independence and look at a private island rental, how about Necker? As you may well know it's Sir Richard Branson's private getaway in the Caribbean and it’s intended for an individual party to lease at any given time.

Whilst we may certainly feel that the world is a crowded place, there are very many areas that are yet to feel the effects of this population explosion and hopefully never will. Some of these idyllic spots are just waiting for you to make all the arrangements, to sample what it’s like to totally unwind and learn all about paradise. Remember that it may well be an effort to get to some of these places, but if it wasn't, would it really be a true escape?

Using Social Media to promote your blog

By Mitchell Scott

Social Media can be a good way to get traffic to your website, meet people within your industry, and connecting with others. That being said, many individuals and corporations aren't using it very effectively. I will show you some good techniques to use the two biggest Social Networks (Facebook and Twitter) and also provide you with some bonus tips on other ways you could connect with people online. I am going to be using the travel industry as an example but nearly everything I suggest can be used in multiple industries and niches.

Facebook is usually a good way of extending the reach of your blog and sharing it with your friends or family (if your prepared to take that step). I suggest that you setup a Facebook page as the home for your blog on Facebook. You could set your blog posts to automatically post to this Facebook page. Once your page is set up, it is advisable totry to look into making a custom landing page. The default landing page for new people (to your page) is the wall. This can be jam-packed with information and might turn people off which means they'll never get back. A landing page is specially designed to offer people more info about exactly what to anticipate from your page and encourages them to "Like" it.

Once your page is set up you can begin telling people about it. You could include a Facebook Like box for your blog or site to convert visitors into Facebook fans of your page. You are able to market it to your friends and family as well as any other forums or online communities you are a a part of.

Once you have a Facebook Page that is attracting people you need to keep them there. Update your page regularly with interesting content and try to pose questions that encourage a response. You want to get individuals to communicate withconnect to your page rather then just lurking.

Twitter is another fantastic tool for networking, especially amongst the travel community. There are discussions about travel going on constantly. You can find these discussions by searching some of the following hashtags. #ttot #lp #rtw #tni #matador Once you find an interesting tweet or link posted in twitter, respond. Give the tweeter props for posting it, retweet their link, or offer your thinking or advice. Your ultimate goal should be to start building relationships online with people so that they will in return check out your blog post or share your links.

1 last way to team up with people who have similar interests online is by using forums. Forums are online discussion groups usually centered around particular topics or industries. A good travel forum is the Lonely Planet Thorn Tree Forum. It's a great place to meetto connect with people with similar goals, feelings, and desires. You will get and give travel advice, meet new people to travel with, or merely swap travel stories. These kinds of forums exist for pretty much every industry/niche imaginable. They are usually free to join and you can back link to your site from them in the signature. They can be a excellent way of getting targeted traffic to your website in addition to getting the word of your new products or services without seeming spammy.

Hopefully this post can give you some ideas on how you can use Social networking to properly drive traffic (and sales) to your website or blog. I've used examples coming from the travel industry but the strategies outlined can be applied nearly anywhere on the net. So get out there and begin getting social!
